Delivering

Ingenuity

We take the problems our customers could not solve anywhere else. The people who solve them are called SlyFoxians, and there are few enough of us that you will never be a number.

Shot 01, hero portrait
One SlyFoxian at their desk, three quarter view, natural window light, mid task and not looking at the lens. Vertical 3:4, shot in the actual office. Do not shoot: a group around a conference table, anyone in front of a server rack, or folded arms and a smile at camera.

The work is genuinely hard.
That is the point.

Our customers bring us the things that did not work the first three times. Five competency areas, one standard: if it were easy, they would have done it in house.

01 / Cybersecurity Engineering

Active defense, and the reverse engineering behind it

Computer network operations, reverse engineering, insider threat avoidance, and digital forensics. The work that does not get written up afterwards.

02 / Software Engineering

Systems that hold under real load

Service oriented and cloud architectures, enterprise applications, DevSecOps, web services, embedded development, microservices, and high performance computing.

03 / Systems Engineering

Design before code

Complex system design, cloud systems, requirements generation, life cycle planning and integration, and HPC systems.

04 / Data Science

AI and ML on real mission data

Artificial intelligence, machine learning, predictive cloud analytics, and data and text mining.

05 / Infrastructure and Engineering Support

The ground everything stands on

Cloud computing, system and network administration, database design, HPC administration, automated test, and virtualization.

Our credo

Seven things we hold each other to. They were written before we had any reason to put them on a website.

Just as the fox protects his family

  • Do the right thing. Integrity and honesty, including when it costs us.
  • Honor our commitments. To the customer, and to each other.
  • Loyalty and support. Family oriented, and we mean it literally.
  • Passion and excellence. Care about the craft, not just the deliverable.
  • Ingenuity and resourcefulness. Find the way through.
  • Enjoy the journey. Fun is on the list on purpose.
  • Communicate with transparency. Say the real thing, early.

Everyone says competitive benefits.
Here are the numbers.

You are an engineer. You would rather read the figure than the adjective, so here is the figure.

9%

401(k) match

Up to nine percent of salary. Not a tiered ladder you climb for four years first.

$9,500

Education and training, per year

Certifications, coursework, conferences. Annual, not once.

100%

Company paid, for you

Medical, dental, and vision. Short and long term disability. Term life.

3%

Performance bonus

Plus overtime compensation on billable hours.

Fox Fund

Yearly expense allowance

Yours to spend, every year.

And the part nobody puts in a benefits table

Vacation, holiday, sick, and birthday leave. Bereavement, jury duty, military, and training leave. Paternity and maternity. Credit time. Facility shutdown. Dependent care and health FSA. Flexible scheduling with approval.

Shot 02, the room
Wide landscape of the actual workspace with two or three people in it, working. Ambient light, no flash, nobody posed. 16:10. If the office is unremarkable, shoot it anyway: honest beats aspirational for this audience.
Shot 03, the boat
Square crop. A thirty foot sailboat, or rigging detail: a winch, a cleat, a taut sheet. Erie, Pennsylvania if it can be shot there. Detail beats a postcard. Square on purpose, to break the aspect ratio the other two shots set.

We are named after a boat

David Walker was a teenager in Erie, Pennsylvania when he came across a thirty foot sailboat called SlyFox.

A sailboat is an argument about precision. Trim, balance, and a hundred small corrections nobody watching ever notices. That is where the name came from. The boat stood for performance and discovery, and the fox stood for character and purpose.

The fox was never a threat icon. Just as the fox protects and cares for his family, we have your back.

You do not apply to a req.
You send us a resume.

We match people to work based on what they are actually good at and actually want, which is hard to do from a job posting. So we skipped the job postings. Send a resume to The Den and a person reads it.
